Heart Mind Yoga is the 'vini' of yoga

'Vini' is an appropriate adaption of yoga for each person. Not a brand, just real yoga as it was always meant to be: Yoga wisdom given one-to-one with a foundation in therapeutic application.

Traditionally - and most beneficially - yoga is taught in stages and according to each person's current situation and circumstances. We are complex and unique human beings.

  1. Ease and strengthen the whole body

  2. Mindful, slow movement - real 'advanced’ yoga

  3. Healthy alignment

  4. Body moves with breath

  5. Movement stages for if we are breathing quickly

  6. No depletion

  7. No stressing or straining of the nervous system

  8. Ease and calm the mind

  9. Yoga's peaceful power: breath, mind and heart together

"Yoga must be intelligently presented. It should be spoken of carefully and according to the aspiration, requirement and the culture of the individual. This should be done in stages."
- TKV Desikachar (45 years of one-to-one yoga teaching)

"As everyone is different and changes from time to time, there are no common starting points, and ready-made answers are useless."
- TKV Desikachar

"Our natural state is one of peace and power, and the basis on which our fundamental existence rests."
- Mark Whitwell

"We are making the body strong and flexible -- but we go about it in a way that also encourages useful patterns of thought and behavior.  No struggling.  No straining.  No striving.  Just strong and calm."
- J. Brown

"What you truly need is not secret knowledge but a realistic practice that will allow you to navigate through the noise and chaos of your life."
- Mark Whitwell

*T.K.V Desikachar (1938 - 2016) taught one-to-one yoga for 45 years and he established a non-profit Public Charitable Trust in Chennai, India (1976): A world-recognized centre of yoga and yoga therapy.

In the 70's and 80's he realised how yoga was being taught to people in groups and not keeping the student as the center of the practice. Because of this, Desikachar consistently urged teachers to find all ways possible to keep yoga appropriate and respectful to each person.

During his life-time he trained some of the finest yoga teachers across the World. Through his center in Chennai, and his teacher-training, Desikachar dedicated his life to promote the healing power of yoga.
